A sunrise just has a certain magic to it, so why not make use of that? During the first hour after waking up, we usually find ourselves in a state of calmness. Our mind is open, and we are receptive to different influences.
Therefore, we should choose to influence our body and mind in a positive manner. A combination of meditation, pranayama, and yoga can do wonders. Before we start our day and the worries of everyday life pop into our head, we can already consciously set the tone for a positive day.
Daily Morning Yoga for Beginners
If you are using the morning yoga for energy gains and for raising your level of awareness, you can try and do so by implementing a daily morning yoga routine.
A yoga meditation morning routine does not have to be overly complex and exhaustive, but should be tailored to your likings.
If you are still a yoga beginner, you can for example choose between a 5 minute, 7 minute, 10 minute, or even a 20 minute morning yoga routine.
Although you might think that a yoga session of such short duration is hardly worthwile, one of the most important aspects is that you do it consistently over an extended period of time. Then, even a 5 or 10 minute yoga routine will lead to positive results.
Yoga Stretches to Do in the Morning
In order to approach your morning stretch and meditation as prepared as possible, we here show you a few postures that you can implement into your morning yoga stretch.
We suggest trying the following postures, as they are quick yoga stretches to wake up:
- Seated twist
- Knee Tuck
- Seated circles
- Bridge Pose
- Bow pose
Whether you want to use only one or several of the postures for your morning yoga is entirely up to yourself. Try out different combinations and see what works best for you.
You can always change up the sequence if some postures are not to your likings or make you feel uncomfortable.
Morning and Evening Yoga Routines
The idea behind this article is to motivate you into practicing yoga in the morning. If you are very disciplined and can manage to do so, it is advisable to perform a short morning yoga routine every day. One example hereof could be a daily hatha yoga routine.
We are what we consistenly do. Therefore, you should consider implementing a regular yoga practice. After one or two weeks you will start noticing differences in the way you tackle the day. You might notice a sharper mind, a deeper relaxation, and lower stress levels in situations of pressure.
However, you do not need to limit your yoga routines to the morning. If you notice that the morning yoga routine helps you in improving your daily life, you might want to consider adding an evening routine as well.
To do so, you can simply cover your 5 minute, 7 minut, or 10 minute morning yoga routine and repeat it before bedtime. If you want to follow a specific evening routine, you can also do a set of exercises in the morning, and another set of exercises in the evening.
Should You Shower After Yoga?
After a yoga session, we might feel warmed up or even in the need for some smal refreshment. However, it is beneficial to wait and not take a bath or shower right after your yoga session, as this allows you to better feel and observe the effect the yoga has on your body.
Showering after yoga might therefore not be the ideal solution. If you for example take a cold shower right after your yoga session, your body cools down and might inhibit the detoxification sparked by the yoga in the first place.
